Top ten for Puffe and Althea MF84 at the Lausitzring
Lausitz (Germany), Sunday 20 August 2017
The Althea MF84 team and rider Julian Puffe have just concluded the sixth round of the 2017 Superstock 1000 championship. The young rider crossed the line in ninth place at the end of what was a hard-fought race.
Fifteenth on the grid, Puffe, racing on home turf in his native Germany, earned two places almost immediately, lapping thirteenth by lap two. The young German held that position for several laps, before moving up into eleventh on lap eight. Thanks to a strong pace, Julian was able to go even further, earning another two positions in the later stages of the race to cross the line in finial ninth place. His best result of the season so far.
The Althea MF84 rider, after six of nine scheduled rounds, now lies 15th in the standings with 15 points scored up until now. The team will return to the track for round seven at Portimao in Portugal over the weekend of 15-17 September.
“The race went really well, despite a problem at the start when I was running wide with a full tank. I lost a lot of time as a result but things got better after the first four laps or so, and I could make better lap times. I was pushing all the way and am very happy to have finished ninth, especially to do so at my home track. My team worked really hard and I thank them for their efforts here, now we have to continue to work in preparation for the final races of the season.”
